Don't Wear Nice Clothes While Cooking
The Holiday Season brings lots of cooking in my house and I suspect in your house as well. I happen to be a messy cook; I inherited this gift from my mom, who inherited it from her mom. I recall as a child walking into my grandparent’s house on Thanksgiving morning and seeing my Grandma’s lovely blouse covered in spills and drips.
It didn’t take me long to realize that at the very least I needed to wear an apron while cooking. But more than that, depending on the messiness of the meal, I might just need to wear old clothes until close to mealtime. With that in mind, we have compiled a list of suggestions below.
Tips for Looking Your Best As You Serve Your Holiday Meals
- Dress Shortly Before Guests Arrive
Have your make-up, hairspray, perfume, and nail polish perfect while wearing grungy clothes and cooking your meal. As meal preparations are wrapping up, change clothes just before guests arrive so you too can look your holiday best.
- Wear an Apron While Finishing Up
It would be terrible to spill something on your nice clothes immediately after putting them on.
- Have a Backup Outfit.
If you do have a mishap, you don’t want to be standing in your closet trying to figure out what to wear as guests are arriving.
- Dealing with Spills
If you get something on your outfit, remove any excess then blot the area with a clean, dry, white cloth and do nothing else. As soon as possible, drop your garment off at the nearest A Cleaner World location, and let us know the source of the stain and any removal attempts you may have tried.
Here’s wishing you a happy and healthy holiday season, and remember, we are here to help with all your holiday fabric care needs.
