Giving Back

A Cleaner World is committed to a tradition of excellence and community service. We are proud of our partnership in community programs like Community Baby Shower and Cover the City. In addition, from 1987 through 2025, we've collected over 1,000,819 coats for the Salvation Army through our signature program, Give A Kid A Coat.

For more information on how to help us make a difference, contact Brian Harrell at brian@acleanerworld.com.

Cover the City

The Cover the City Project began in 2013 to provide warmth and love to the homeless population in shelters and those who don't use shelters during the coldest months of the year.  Each year, Cover the City Project hosts a blanket drive throughout its different chapters to collect new and gently used blankets for those in need, and this year, A Cleaner World and Fox 8 are partnering with this worthwhile mission.  Forsyth and Guilford County A Cleaner World locations will accept blanket donations from October 1 through November 30, while our friends at Fox 8 will bring awareness to this critical need.

To participate, drop off a new or gently used blanket at any one of our Triad locations, and click here to learn more about the Cover the City Project.

2025 Give A Kid A Coat Campaign

Give A Kid A Coat, a program that solicits coat donations from area residents to give to those in need, wrapped up its 38th campaign on February 15, 2025, after receiving 18,218 coats for children and families in need. Since its inception, over 1,000,819 coats have been collected and cleaned for Give A Kid A Coat.

How does it work? The campaign kicks off in early January and runs through mid-February. Residents who wish to participate can simply check their closets for outgrown coats or coats they no longer wear and drop them off at any A Cleaner World location during the campaign dates. A Cleaner World will clean, press, and perform minor repairs on the coats before they are given to The Salvation Army for distribution.

We encourage groups (schools, churches, businesses, and others) to hold collections prior to the campaign kickoff and drop them off in between Christmas and New Year's so we can begin to clean them and have coats ready for distribution in early January. For more information about group collections, contact liz@acleanerworld.com

We look forward to seeing you for our 39th Give A Kid A Coat campaign in January 2026!

Give A Kid A Coat is sponsored by A Cleaner World, The Salvation ArmyWGHP/Fox81075KZL, and Rock92.  This year's media sponsors are Go Green Plumbing, Heating and Air, and AAA Self Storage.

Community Baby Shower

Adding a new baby to a family is a joyous occasion. Yet, we know some of our neighbors are struggling to get by. Add the needs of a newborn to the mix, and often families have to choose between buying diapers or paying the electric bill. To assist these families, A Cleaner World partners with FOX8 each spring to host the Annual FOX8 Community Baby Shower, a program designed to provide baby essentials.

The 9th Annual Community Baby Shower has now concluded, and we want to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who donated items and supported this meaningful cause. Because of your generosity, families throughout our community received much-needed supplies and support during a critical time in their lives.

Throughout each campaign, new items such as diapers, wipes, formula, and supplies, as well as gently used items like baby clothes, toys, and cribs, are collected at Triad-area A Cleaner World locations. The Salvation Army collects and distributes these donated items throughout our community. Cash donations made securely online to The Salvation Army are used to purchase essential items for new mothers and babies in need.

We look forward to partnering with FOX8 again for the 10th Annual Community Baby Shower in April 2026. We’ll update this page with details about how you can participate closer to the start of next year’s campaign.

Do Good. Donate Goods.

Since 2009, A Cleaner World has been a drop off point for anyone that wants to donate their gently used clothes to The Salvation Army Family Thrift Stores.

Items that are donated to The Salvation Army Family Thrift Stores are sold to the community, many times at bargain prices, and the proceeds help support their programs like disaster relief, adult rehabilitation, youth camps, elderly services, and so on. While these services are dubbed as programs, the bottom line is that you’re helping people (doing good) – our neighbors in need. Who knew that simply cleaning out your closet and dropping off your no longer needed clothes at any Triad A Cleaner World location (donate goods) could make such an impact?!
