A Cleaner World Blog

Eight years ago, Amanda Anderson brought a group of friends together to help a homeless man in High Point.  That single act of kindness led to a non-profit organization that focuses on providing blankets for the homeless population in both shelters and for those that live out in the elements during winter months.  With the mission to cover cities literally and physically with warmth and love, Cover the City Project is well on their way to doing just that.  They have chapter locations in North Carolina, New York, and Ohio and have collected approximately 45,000 blankets since inception.  This year they would like to collect 10,000 blankets, and that’s where we come in.

A Cleaner World is thrilled to once again be a drop off point for Cover the City Project.  Simply drop off a gently used or new blanket at any Triad A Cleaner World location.  We will clean gently used blankets and forward those along with new blankets on for distribution.  Distribution is done through over 30 different organizations and groups, but the larger ones in North Carolina are Open Door MinistriesGreensboro Urban MinistriesNext Step MinistriesThe Bethesda CenterWinston Salem Rescue Mission, and West End Ministries.

“When we were approached about partnering with Cover the City Project, we immediately knew it was a perfect fit,” said Brian Harrell, Vice President for A Cleaner World.  “Being involved in the community and helping our neighbors is something we love and want to do.  I’ve already donated a blanket to this wonderful cause, and I hope you will do the same.”  Donate between now and November 30 and help us help Cover the City Project keep our community warm.
